Applicants for registration as an optician in British Columbia who are graduates of an accredited and COBC Board approved educational program must successfully complete steps 1, 6 and 7 of the steps to registration.

In some circumstances the registration committee have the authority to waive the national examinations.

1. Applicant Applies for Registration with COBC

6. Examination
National Optical Sciences Examination (NOS)
The applicant must pass the NOS examination in order to proceed to step 7.

7. Proceed to COBC Registration
   7.1 Proof of insurance
   7.2 Solemn declaration
   7.3 Criminal records check
   7.4 Payment of fees
